When fitting the larger tires and wheels it is almost always necessary to lift the truck. Also 4x4 lifted trucks are less subject to damage in situations like river crossing and rocky trails. There are two main methods of making your truck one of the 4x4 lifted trucks.
Body lifts
If your truck is built on a frame it is a fairly simple matter to lift the body. The body is usually attached to the frame with about 12 bolts. You must then get some nylon or aluminum blocks and longer bolts!
Suspension lifts
Suspension lift kits are much more advanced. It is important for your truck to maintain as much of the original stability as possible.
You should look for longer wheel travel and a softer ride. It is best if the geometry of the control arm and steering is close to the factory original.
